We're not the only ones in a jacaranda frenzy this year. To capture the essence of Joburg's purple spring, Keyes Art Mile and American Express invite South African artists, designers, and illustrators to enter the 2024 Jacaranda Art Challenge. The jacaranda tree is symbolic of Johannesburg's seasonal renewal, transforming the city with purple blooms and eliciting wonder among local residents and visitors alike. As long as it's an ode to the iconic jacarandas in bloom, what you create to celebrate this visual spectacle is entirely up to you. 

The winning artist receives a R20,000 cash prize awarded by Nedbank, while the winning work will be blown up to adorn the façade of the Trumpet building at Keyes Art Mile. This large-scale mural will be unveiled as part of the Keyes Art Night festivities on Thu, Nov 7, where it will be seen in Rosebank by a wide audience of art enthusiasts, cultural influencers, and the broader public for months to come.
