How many mosques have you seen with pyramid-shaped roofs? Regardless of the answer, you’ve not come across many as impressive as Tuzla’s Gazi Turali Beg Mosque, located smack-bang in the heart of the city. The mosque was established in 1572 by its namesake, the largely unknown Ottoman official that was responsible for a lot of Tuzla’s urban development during the early years of Ottoman rule. He did a fine job on this beauty, that’s for sure. The mosque was completely reconstructed in recent times, staying true to the original design but managing to avoid the topographical issues that had plagued it for centuries.
