Used as a factory during the communist dictatorship and restored in 1998, the Italian-style St. Francis monastery church is crowned with statues and an elegant tower. Inside, some gruesome wall paintings interpret what befell the poor monks in the repressive years; devils can be seen whispering into the ears of Partisan soldiers, who then tie the monks to the trees, crucifix style, leaving them to die. 16 priests were killed between 1943 and 1965, and a memorial plaque is dedicated to them.
