The Alpineum is a witness to the booming romantic enthusiasm of the 19th century. There are five Alpine vistas in yesteryear virtual reality technology to gaze at, like the ascent to Mont Blanc or the view from Gornergrat. Opened in 1901, the Alpineum has hardly changed since and is definitely behind the times in exhibition techniques, but it does have an incontestable charm. Also delightful are the 19th-century stereoscopes with views of Rome or Paris. This small museum can easily be seen within 20 minutes.
