If you haven't been hiding in a cave for the past three decades, this Scandinavian phenomenon needs no introduction. In addition to all the beds, baths, sofas and flat packed furniture, this is also the cheapest place in Groningen to fill up for breakfast. For a ridiculously low price of one euro you get a croissant, freshly baked roll, a slice of cheese, jam and a boiled egg. Join the free IKEA family member club and you'll get tea and coffee on the house as well. The views of either the cushion department or the huge parking lot may not be the ideal setting for a meal, but there are worse places in town to spend your hard earned cash. Naturally, you can also drop by for lunch and dinner, but you'll definitely pay more. The Swedish meatballs are of course delicious, but we think the Dutch make a far better apple pie.
