Even after decades of writing about hundreds of travel destinations, we're still amazed when we find a hidden gem like the Black Durgon Inn. Although we'll grudgingly share our secret with you here, we hope that mass tourism will never sink its nasty claws into this humble operation. Since 1986 this little piece of paradise has been run by a gringo named Al. This wonderful character and his caring staff will do everything to make you feel at home and that includes a complimentary breakfast. Perhaps that's why it has an unbelievable 95% return rate for its customers. Black Durgon is also famous for its world-class diving and snorkelling at its two private reefs. The atmosphere at this moderately priced oceanfront property can be best described as relaxing and non-commercial and although most of its 10 rooms are quite basic, the otherwise magical setting will quickly turn you into yet another fan of Durgon.
