If you had a salad with goat cheese on Bonaire, there's a good chance that the main dairy ingredient came from Aletta's Semper Kontentu Goat Cheese farm. It's a long name to describe a simple Dutch woman with a simple idea who has fulfilled her dream of becoming a farmer. She also became a celebrity in the Netherlands by openly searching for Mr. Right on television. We can't say if she found the love of her life, but the woman has certainly built a goat empire in the barren dry lands of Bonaire's wilderness and that's not up for debate. Despite the harsh conditions, Mambo, Sproet, Chiki, Ben and all the hundreds of other animals have made a fine home here. Three days a week you can visit Aletta and her beloved animals by taking a small guided tour ending with a possibility of purchasing delicious goat cheese or one of the many goatskin products on offer.
