If you turn left after arriving by ferry and follow the coastline north, Paal 9 will be the first beach bar you'll find. For some strange reason it's now located at Paal 10, but that seems to be one of its few shortcomings. If you're hungry try the twaalfuurtje, which comes with a small bowl of soup, a fried egg and a delicious homemade kroket served on thick slices of brown bread. The artistic fireplace is a good place to chill out on colder days and you can always admire the traditional maritime decor, which is actually a little too kitschy for us. On the other hand, the genuine fisherman's meal Juttersmaal (a combination of brown beans, sausage, bacon, onions and piccalilli) is a nautical tradition that we wholeheartedly embrace.
