What this small bar lacks in size, it more than makes up for in numbers of patrons. You can order burgers, satay and schnitzel or just stick to an interesting selection of beer that includes mass-market brews as well as some lesser-known brands like Texels that are seldom seen in Amsterdam bars. Although its interior has antique accents, the bright colours, modern music and young, often foreign, clientele ensure that De Gaeper isn’t a typical Dutch brown bar.
