The only downside to Boavista is that’s only open a few days a week. If you happen to be there at the weekend, make sure to check out the wooden Indonesian statues lined up next to replicas of historic Dutch sailing ships. If you prefer something a bit artier, have a look at the vintage corner or the Art Deco shelves. What the owners have in common with Brazil escapes us. Perhaps it’s the plastic beach toys that children use on Holland’s own Riviera.
