Liverpool’s Best Cafes to Work From

more than a year ago
You know what, we’re just going to say it — Liverpool has a very, very healthy hipster population. This should be taken as a positive, to say the least, as it has guaranteed a fine collection of craft beer bars, vegetarian restaurants and open space for anyone and everyone. It also means Liverpool might just be the cafe capital of the north, a city full of great coffee-heavy places to get some work done during the day or make some plans for the evening.

Coffee & Fandisha

Liverpool’s coolest cafe? We’re not about to stick our flag to any particular mast in that race, but Coffee & Fandisha certainly makes a compelling case. Found smack bang in the heart of the Baltic Triangle, this colourful cafe doffs its cap in the direction of traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremonies, where the good stuff is served with bits of popcorn and other delicacies, making this something more than a drink. Creative heaven too, but you’ll see what we mean when you get there.

Rococo

Exposed brickwork, mix and match furniture, a charm that can’t be taught and some seriously good coffee. Rococo isn’t pushing the envelope but then it doesn’t need to, it excels by doing exactly what brought it to the table way back in 2008. You’ll have to look up to find it though, but there is plenty of history in this charming Lord Street building — it once housed a pirate radio station. Now it is home to one of the city’s best cafes.

92 Degrees

92 Degrees has a number of coffee shops across the city but we’re generally happy to head to the Baltic Triangle location, what with the roastery being on site and all that. You can’t go wrong with any of the locations really, as all three offer tantalising good coffee brewed by people who care deeply about the drinks they are preparing. Stylish, elegant, effortlessly charming. Bloomin’t tasty too.

Ryde Liverpool

Are cities contractually obliged to now have cool cycle-friendly cafes? If they aren’t, that will be the first thing we implement when we rise to power, especially if they are going to be as excellent as Liverpool’s Ryde. Comfy seating and great coffee are always going to be an unbeatable combination, so add tasty (and healthy) food and a solid dollop of personality and you’ve got something special on your hands. You can also get your bike fixed here, it being a repair shop after all.

Root Coffee

A city centre location and an unfaltering commitment to constant improvement are two things that any cafe should treasure, and Root Coffee more than makes the most of these major attributes. This is a cafe for people who take their coffee very seriously indeed, top quality brews by baristas who know exactly what they are brewing and how they are going to brew it. You’ll find them behind the Premier Inn on Hanover.
