This thirteenth century Augustinian monastery now houses the biggest collection of sculpture in Liguria. Before heavy bombing damage during WWII it was known as the Museo di Scultura e Architettura Ligure but since then has been in constant evolution, redesigned and restored with new spaces and projects appearing. The main collection contains marble, stone and wooden sculptures from medieval to modern time with many works taken from now vanished Franciscan and Dominican monastic sites. As you’re strolling and admiring, notice the unusual triangular cloister next to the church. As well as the sculptures there are frescoes and paintings from the 13th to 16th centuries.
