Party in a palace, the Haggenmacher Palace, designed in the North Italian Gothic style and built by Henrik Schmahl in 1886 to be precise! A branch of Budapest's public library operates there during daylight hours. But at night, the librarians move out and middle class young Hungarians file in for cocktails and electronic music. Gents pay 2 000 HUF to get in, part of which can be redeemed as a drink token, ladies enter for free. As sprawling as it is, with a large inner courtyard, on weekend nights it definitely fills up - and there's even an hermetically sealed smoking section upstairs.
