Pizza is the order of the day in Veliko Tarnovo and virtually every restaurant has a long menu featuring every possible combination of ingredients. Though Bulgaria is not the home of pizza, they are usually very tasty, if made with 'kashkaval' cheese rather than mozzarella. Even non pizza restaurants in Veliko Tarnovo offer pizza, but at the same time those that proclaim themselves pizzeria also offer traditional Bulgarian salads and entrees, pasta and basic grilled meats and much more besides.
