The largest historical theme park in the world opened its doors in Spring 2019, the project will be fully completed in 2022. Although Bulgaria occupies only 2% of European land, it boasts over 40,000 historical monuments, 7 of which are UNESCO World Heritage listed, 36 cultural reserves, and 160 monasteries. Many of these historical monuments and reserves are relatively unknown to the world and the Historical Park aims both at promoting and preserving this heritage.
Situated on 500 acres of land 33 km outside the city, the park will offer interactive educational entertainment, performances and films, craft courses, seminars and exhibitions leading the visitor back in time through five main historic epochs. The first step of the project is now open to visitors. It covers Chalcolithic and Neolithic times and also has a recreational area.
There is a minibus and a taxi from Varna Bus Station, which leaves twice a day to the village of Neofit Rilski
