At home, Stuurman is a style icon and someone who is highly supportive of his local creative counterparts. We are devoted fans! His work has captured the likes of Barack Obama, Naomi Campbell and Bella Hadid.
The accolades attached to his name are too lengthy to mention here. They include Forbes 30 Under 30 list and TIME Magazine's Next Generation Leaders in 2021. In addition, Stuurman is the founder of The Manor, a community of multidisciplinary creatives.
In celebration of the opening of The Manor's new project space at Keyes Art Mile they present Home Away From Home, a group exhibition of art installations and items from Stuurman's personal collection. Shooting off of his 2022 exhibition A Place Called Home, Stuurman explores the nostalgia and meaning of domestic life in South Africa by arranging and installing the works to convey notions of home in a gallery setting.“This is a presentation of home, but in a different light. It’s quite personal for me to let people into my own space in this way, but as we bring The Manor to life I want to create a physical manifestation of the stories and people in The Manor’s universe and the way it could one day look.” – Trevor Stuurman
The exhibition includes work by artists Bonolo Kavula, Esther Mahlangu, Katlego Tlabela, Lulama Wolf, Mmangaliso Nzuza, Nelson Makamo, Nthabi Kekana, Simphiwe Ndzube, Sindiso Nyoni, Siphesilhle Ntsugwana as well as Stuurman’s own photography.
The Manor's exhibition also brings together an exciting programme of events that include the second edition of Sunday Best Experience, a food and music event.
