For those looking for an urban outdoor adventure during their stay in Kraków, Nowa Huta's Dłubnia River offers a decent current with numerous obstacles to keep you alert - fallen trees, small rapids and sharp meanders, all of which add flavour to a unique and memorable outing. If this daring activity sounds like your way of getting a thrill, then makeNowa Huta Reservoir-where guided and unguided trips set out from - your port of call. The course is about 5km long and takes about 2-2.5 hours. Although float trips are organised regularly on the weekends during the summer, contact them in advance to see what your options are depending how many people are in your party. Note that each kayak is for 2 people, with an additional 2+1 option for those with a child under 6 years old. The organizers provide the necessary equipment, instruction and care, insurance and transport.

Krakow I went on one of these trips, there were only 4 of us and it was not difficult to organise, you just need to contact them in advance. There's really no need for a guide on this river unless there's been a big storm, in which case they will insist on it, or it won't be available.
The river is nicer than you'd think and it's kind of cool to have such an option without leaving Krakow. But the trash. OMG there is so much trash in the river, which is a big turnoff. The organisers need to do clean-ups more often. If you're okay with trash and odours and remember that this is urban kayaking, you'll probably enjoy it. If you're expecting a pristine stream, look elsewhere. It is what it is: a float trip through Nowa Huta ;)
