Almost certainly dating from the end of the 14th century and probably built on the orders of the Ottoman military commander Gazi Evrenos, the once large clock tower close to the centre of Star Dojran suffered the same fate as several other monuments in town and was partially destroyed during the First World War. Plans are being discussed to return it to its former beauty. Nearby are the equally crumbling remains of the town's former hamam.
