Kamnik’s hiking trails range from family friendly to competitor level. A great one to ease you in is the trek up to Stari grad, which can be done in around 30 minutes from the town centre. At the top you can enjoy refreshments from the Grajska terasa cafe and enjoy the panoramic view. Further afield you can follow the path along Kamniška Bistrica that heads out to Domžale, a relaxing stroll in the Volčji Potok Arboretum or something more demanding such as the Kamnik Saddle or the path from Tuhinj Valley to Menina planina. For those with a competitive streak you can see how many times you can complete the St. Primož trail in a 24 hour period.
